Be ware of fake notes in transactions: MP

BINTULU: MP Datuk Sri Tiong King Sing has advised the public to scrutinise money received in any of their business dealings to avoid becoming victims of fraud.

He gave the reminder after it emerged that a Sibujaya Tamu Market trader had been cheated with fake RM20 notes.

This should serve as a warning to the public not to be complacent especially when dealing with money, said Tiong.

Anyone who receives or finds fake money, needs to contact the police for immediate action, he said at the Chinese New Year celebration and donation presentation for the elderly organised by the Botulin Division Liu Kwee Tang Association at one of the restaurants, here, last night.

Tiong was represented by his Special Officer at the Botulin Member of Parliament Service Centre , Steven Kong.

At the same time, he urged the police to carry out a detailed investigation on the report made by the trader.

On a separate matter, Tiong hoped that the Year of the Rabbit will strengthen the spirit of unity among the community and bring more prosperity to the whole community.

“Last year, the whole world went through the Covid-19 pandemic, making life difficult.

“But the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese calendar is expected to change the lives of all the people in this state for the better,” he said.

At the event, Tiong also announced an allocation of RM15,000 to the association for its activities.

Chairman of the Bintulu Division Liu Kwee Tang Association, Kong Kung Kwong was also present.
