MIRI: Long Terawan folks will soon have access to more reliable internet services with the establishment of Sarawak Rural Broadband Network (MYSRBN).
Through the project, the people, mostly Berawan, will have access to better internet and mobile telephone services.
Today (April 6), Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg launched the MySRBN project in Long Terawan.
MySRBN is a project by the Sarawak government under the Sarawak Digital Economic Corporation (SDEC); it aims to provide high speed broadband services both in suburban and rural areas in this region.
Long Terawan is accessible by land and air from Miri. The land journey to Long Terawan on a logging road from Miri takes about six hours while the journey by plane is shorter by a few hours.
Travellers who fly from Miri airport will reach Mulu in less than an hour and from Mulu, they have to take a boat and cruse along the Tutoh River for three hours before reaching Long Terawan.
The people in the northern region applaud the initiative by the Sarawak government in setting up the MYSRBN.
