BAU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must win Serian, Puncak Borneo and Mas Gading in the 15th general election (GE15) to ensure a stronger representation in Parliament and the voices of the Bidayuh community are heard, says Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.

The Deputy Minister for Transport said the Bidayuh community should not be left out and should move forward with other races in the state under the GPS leadership.

“From the previous state election, all the Bidayuh elected representative won the eight state seats and we can see the strength, the cohesiveness and the togetherness of the community.

“After we won all eight seats, you can see the latest reciprocal by the leaders when they announced the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), which means all the Bidayuh belt, including Tanjung Datu, will be further developed and allocations will be given.

“This is because they have seen how the Bidayuh support the government of the day and they have shown that they want to move forward and not to be left behind.”

Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, said this when met by the media after officiating at the opening of the Community Development Intervention Centre (CDIC) One-Stop Committee (OSC) for Bau District Council, on Tuesday (Nov 8).

He added that by winning the three seats, the elected MPs then could work together with the assemblymen to bring more development to Bidayuh areas.

Opar, Tasik Biru, Serumbu, Mambong, Tarat, Kedup, Bukit Semuja and Tebedu make up the eight Bidayuh-majority state seats.

“So come Nov 19, I urge all Bidayuh voters, young and old, to vote for GPS for a better future.”

When asked further about the campaign progress in Mas Gading, Henry said GPS candidate Lidang Disen had been warmly received by the grassroots.

“He (Lidang) has been in politics for 12 years so going to the ground is not a problem for him because he is well known to the people and we will continue the momentum.

“Besides going from one village to another, we will also utilise social media such as TikTok and promotional videos. We are going all out to make sure the votes come to us.”

Henry also disclosed that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg would be coming to Kampung Stenggang on Nov 16.

“Stenggang is his own kampung,” he said, referring to Lidang, and added that Stenggang had about 1,800 voters.

“We need good impetus, good injection to make sure we win handsomely,” Henry stressed.
