SIBU: Yesterday’s promotion of 48 personnel of the tenth battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) here was the largest ever in the state.

They were upgraded from sergeant major to sub-inspector, sergeant to sergeant major and corporal to sergeant positions.

Its commander, Supt Sanudin Mohamad Isa, who spoke at the investiture ceremony, said those promoted were picked from among the best in the battalion due to their hard work, dedication and commitment.

Their promotion, he said, came with added responsibilities which they must always be ready to carry.

“You must always be ready to accept a new position especially when it requires a transfer to another place. Whatever task or responsibility you are entrusted, do it with your utmost effort,” he said.

He believed that with their good track record, they would do well if not better in their new posts or battalions in future.

“Discharge your duty diligently and you might be promoted again in future,” he said.

Sanudin said the force had eight sergeant and sergeant major posts to be filled.

“We will publicise the positions when the time comes,” he said.
