MIRI: A 32-year-old biker was killed after his motorcycle skidded and plunged into a monsoon drain near Jalan Padang Kerbau on Tuesday night (December 29).
Joseph Jantan died on the spot at the scene due to serious injuries in the 10.45pm incident.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu said prior to the incident, the man was riding his motorcycle towards Miri Hospital from the Saberkas roundabout.
“On reaching the scene, his motorcycle suddenly went out of control and veered off the road,” he added.
Police and an ambulance from Miri hospital rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency alert on the incident.
The paramedics, who arrived at the scene, pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The accident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
