SIBU: The kitchen of a rental room at Jalan Lembangan, here was destroyed in a fire today (Nov 19).
The 12.30am incident was reported by a neighbour who went to the Sibu central fire station. At the time of the incident, no one was at home.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a team was quickly deployed to the scene to commence extinguishing works.
Upon arriving, they confirmed that the fire involved several cooking appliances in the back of the room.
The flames, which were completely extinguished, had caused 15 per cent damages to the kitchen.
The team ended the operation at 1.05am and headed back to their station after ensuring that the situation was safe.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
