KUCHING: A single-storey house in Kampung Sungai Moyan, used for storing household items, suffered extensive damage in a fire on Friday (Oct 20).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a call regarding the incident at 4.22pm and dispatched a team from Bau and Batu Lintang fire station to the scene.
“Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters encountered a challenging task in controlling the fire because there was no nearby fire hydrant or water source.
“Firefighters had to make round trips to a distant fire hydrant to fill their fire engines’ tanks with water for the operation.
“It wasn’t until around 5pm that they managed to gain control over the fire, which had consumed a house measuring approximately 111 square metres,” it said in a press release.
At 5.50pm, the firefighting efforts were concluded, and the house sustained 85 percent damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no casualties were reported from the incident.
