MIRI: Chance for you to make Sarawak Day more memorable and meaningful.

Be prepared to donate your blood on July 22 and receive a free T-shirt – courtesy of MRC Miri Branch Blood Donor Recruitment Committee.

The MRC Miri Branch Blood Donor Recruitment Committee and co-organisers Miri Thai Poo Community Association (Thai Poo) Youth Section and Miri Youth Activities Centre (MYAC) are holding a blood donation campaign, aptly named ‘Sarawak Independence Day Blood Donation’, at the Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) premises at Jalan Bulan Sabit here between 8.30am and 1pm on Thursday.

The public are encouraged to participate in the campaign.

The organisers said the blood donation drive, apart from replenishing the blood bank, is also to mark Sarawak Day, an important day in Sarawak’s history.

“It is a public holiday and we hope members of the public will take the opportunity to donate blood.

“The amount targeted for this blood donation is 80 pints,” said the organisers.

Meanwhile, potential donors – especially those who have recently received their Covid-19 vaccination –  have been reminded that they can donate their blood only after seven days of their first or second dose jab.

Successful donors will receive a T-shirt, face masks and hand sanitisers. However, the T-shirts will be given away on a first come, first served basis.

MRC will prepare refreshments.

Miri City Council (MCC) Mayor Adam Yii is expected to grace the event.
