KOTA SAMARAHAN: The construction of a 9.6-km road between Ngemah and Temalat has restarted.

According to Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, the construction was affected by the recent change of federal government.

He was answering a question from a reporter on the current status of the road during a press conference after officiating at an earth-breaking ceremony for the upgrade of Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa here yesterday (Jun 27).

Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi in his comments said the progress of the road was within the expected time of completion.

“Based on the latest progress, the progress is at 76.2 percent versus 77 percent scheduled for the end of May this year. This means that it is on track.

“We are now monitoring the progress and if it goes according to plan, the road will be motorable by the end of October of this year,” he claimed.

The Ngemah-Temalat Road is part of the 86-km Kanowit-Song-Kapit Road costing more than RM700 million.
