KUCHING: Village heads in Pantai Damai constituency are urged to mobilise as many voters to turn up on polling day.

In stating this, Pantai Damai assemblyman cum Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) operation director for Santubong, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi disclosed that the constituency now had 37,000 registered voters.

“The voter turnout is crucial for our Santubong candidate Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

“Hence, I call on the supporters here to give her their full support.

“We need to maintain Santubong as our stronghold. That is why it is important to show your support for Nancy so that she can win this election,” he said, adding that the constituency would have 17 voting centres in the area.

Dr Abdul Rahman said this in his opening remark at Ramah Mesra Bersama KMKK Pantai Damai programme at Waterfront Hotel on Monday (Nov 7).

He also said that in his constituency, there was no need to have big talks (ceramah) to convince the voters to support the GPS candidate.

“Here, GPS is seen as the dominant party and the majority of its supporters support PBB.

“Their loyal support comes from the development that the GPS government gave to them and various initiatives that were announced by our premier to develop Sarawak.

“That is why our machinery here will not focus on giving talks to the people. Instead, we will only focus on getting people to come out to vote on the polling day,” he said.
