KUCHING: Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei (pic) is going all out to promote the Kenyalang Gold Card.

He chose KMC Flats in Jalan Ban Hock here to kick-start his campaign yesterday to get senior citizens to fill the form if they qualify.

Describing the Kenyalang Gold Card as of great help to the elderly, the assemblyman said he chose the KMC Flats because the residential area has a good population of senior citizens.

He said for a good initiative as the Kenyalang Gold Card he would go all out to help senior citizens in his constituency to fill the form.

“This is our effort to help them apply for the card without having to go to the Social Welfare Department office, Resident’s Office or District Office to get the application form,” Wong said.

The Padungan assemblyman said the Kenyalang Gold Card has many benefits and one that makes it very attractive is the ‘Death Compassionate Assistance’, which gives RM3,000 to cover funeral expenses of the card holder.

“I will go to other places (in the Padungan area) to help senior citizens fill out the form,” Wong explained.

However, the benefit is only intended for those without nextof-kin, or those from poor family background.

Applicants of the card must be a permanent resident of Sarawak aged 60 and above.
