Cases 35 down from previous day’s

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 350 new cases today, a decrease of 35 from the previous day’s 385.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement disclosed that of the total, 349 cases were in categories 1 & 2 while categories 3, 4 & 5 had only one case.

“Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 113 followed by Miri (51), Bintulu (40), Sibu (30), Serian (21) and Samarahan (10).

“There were nine cases reported in Sarikei, Sri Aman and Pusa respectively while Bau and Betong recorded eight cases each.

“Dalat and Matu reported five cases each; Tatau (four); three each in Limbang and Mukah; two each in Simunjan, Lundu, Asajaya, Lawas and Subis,” it said.

The committee added that one case was reported in Tanjung Manis, Lubok Antu, Marudi, Kabong, Belaga, Kapit, Saratok, Sebauh, Song, Pakan, Tebedu and Beluru respectively.

As for fatalities, the committee disclosed that two new COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Thursday (April 7), one each in Miri and Sibu.

The death recorded in Miri was that of a 68-year-old woman who had dyslipidemia and cancer. She passed away at Miri Hospital.

At Sibu Hospital the person who died was a 47-year-old man who had high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.

“No new cluster was recorded, so the state currently has only four active clusters,” SDMC said.
