Cases decrease with 287 new ones recorded

KUCHING: Sarawak’s daily Covid-19 cases continue to drop with 287 new transmissions recorded on Monday (Nov 15).

This was a marginal decrease from Sunday’s 299 cases, bringing the cumulative cases to 247,667.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 276 of the new cases were categories 1 and 2, while seven cases fell into categories 3, 4 and 5.

“Of the total, 103 cases were in category 1, 173 in category 2, five cases in category 3, four cases in category 4 and two cases in category 5,” it said in its daily Covid-19 update on Monday.

SDMC said Kuching registered the highest number of daily cases with 86, followed by Miri with 47 and Sibu with 33 cases.

“Meanwhile, Bintulu registered 25 cases, Mukah (21), Lawas (21), while only single-digit number of cases were reported in Limbang, Dalat, Samarahan, Sarikei, Bau, Sri Aman, Kapit, Serian, Tanjung Manis, Saratok, Song, Belaga, Subis, Betong, Lundu, Kanowit, Bukit Mabong and Matu.”

SDMC said 12 death cases related to Covid-19 infections were also confirmed from November 10 to 14.

“The death cases consist of victims aged 36 to 87 from Sri Aman, Miri, Kuching, Sibu, Limbang and Sarikei divisions.

“Of the total, 10 of the victims had comorbidities while two victims had no history of chronic illnesses,” it added.

The committee also announced the end of the Long Urun cluster in Belaga.

“No new cases were reported in the clusters for the past 28 days with the number of active clusters in the state now at 10,” it added.
