KUCHING: Christmas in Sarawak is a celebration that echoes unity, compassion and sharing across the diverse cultural and religious landscape of the state, says Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.

He said Christmas is a time for families and friends to unite in joy, emphasising the importance of extending kindness to the less fortunate, irrespective of their background.

“Let this coming Christmas be a festival to showcase unity in diversity, which promotes giving, sharing, and caring for all Sarawakians regardless of their race or religion, and be a day when the divide between the poor and rich is diminished and a smile is brought to the faces of everyone.

“Let us all embrace and strengthen unity amongst our people for political stability, which is crucial for the continuous progress and development of Sarawak,” he said.

He said this when officiating at a pre-Christmas celebration event organised by Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Satria Jaya Church at Lorong Stutong 5 here last night (Nov. 25).

As a gesture of goodwill, Yap participated in the spirit of giving by donating and distributing Christmas presents to 47 boys and girls during the event.
