Chambers explore collaboration between Singapore and Sarawak

KUCHING: The Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) paid a courtesy visit to several business chambers in Singapore recently.
In a joint statement KCGCCI and ACCCIS said the delegation was led by its president Datuk Tan Jit Kee together with ACCCIS secretary-general Datuk Jonathan Chai and KCGCCI 133rd Anniversary working chairman Rodger Chan.
They paid a visit to Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI), Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS) and Bosses Network in Singapore from April 12 to April 13.
The delegates were received by SCCCI president Kho Choon Keng and council members.
“During the discussion, Tan gave an introduction on ACCCIS and KCGCCI to Kho and SCCCI council members.
“The leaders of both chambers also discussed existing links between Singapore and Sarawak governments as well as businesses.
“Potential areas of collaboration between Singapore and Sarawak especially the opportunities and the green initiatives arising from PCDS 2030 were also among the issues discussed,” it said.
Both parties also explored possibilities of collaboration between the two chambers of commerce including signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to intensify mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, during their visit to STATOS, the delegation was led by STATOS chief executive officer Chew Chang Guan to visit the gallery in Singapore, which displays a lot of iconic products from Sarawak.
The delegation also met with the chairperson of Bosses Network of Singapore Andy Hoon and held a discussion on potential investment and business opportunities in Sarawak.
“A group of more than 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of the Bosses Network of Singapore, had just visited Kuching recently and their members have expressed interest in doing business and making investments in Sarawak.
“Tan also extended invitations to Kho, Chew and Hoon to attend the “133rd Anniversary Celebration Dinner of KCGCCI” and “77th Annual General Meeting of ACCCIM” to be held in Kuching on July 7 to July 8,” the statement said.
