MIRI: A Perodua Kembara was heading towards Woodman estate from the Go-Kart area yesterday when it suddenly crashed into a bridge at 1am.

Following the crash, the car burst into flames, killing the driver instantly, revealed Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu yesterday.

The body, he added, had been taken to Miri hospital’s morgue for a post mortem.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

Talking about the same case, Miri Fire and Rescue chief Supt Supt Law Poh Kiong said a team of eight firemen from Lopeng fire station was immediately deployed to Adong estate at Jalan Sawit here in response to an alert at 2.22am yesterday.

“After arriving at the scene, our men immediately proceeded to extinguish the blaze and only realised a charred body was inside the car after they had put out the flames completely,” he said.
