Chong casts vote in Bandar Kuching

KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidate for Stampin Chong Chieng Jen arrived at SMK Kuching High voting centre here this morning to cast his ballot.

Chong, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak chairman, arrived together with his wife Tan Hui Poh.

Chong successfully cast his vote for the at 8.57am.

“I have done my part and my duty as a responsible citizen.

“Now we just hope for the best for the country,” said Chong when met by reporters.

Meanwhile, Chong’s parents, Chong Siew Chiang (father) and Sim Yaw Sik (mother) arrived slightly earlier at 8.48am.

Sim completed her duty at 8.51am while Siew Chiang fulfilled his part by 8.53am.

Bandar Kuching parliamentary seat has a total of 109,710 voters that are registered to come forward and vote today.

Polling centre at Kuching High opened as early as 7.30am and the situation was pretty calm and quiet without any incidents.

Four voting lanes were provided for the voting process.
