MIRI: Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang yesterday took time of her busy schedule to officially launch Sarawak Shell Berhad’s (SSB’s) childcare centre in Lutong, Miri.

The CikCak Child Care centre, located in Lutong, is a project by Shell Women Action Network (SWAN) supported by the Sarawak Shell Berhad.

The establishment of the childcare centre is to provide a support-system primarily for dual-career parents in the oil and gas industry.

Also present to accompany Juma’ani were Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin’s wife Datin Kong Shui Lin and SWAN president who is also head of Shell Malaysia Legal Department Rodziah Zainudin.

The centre was formed and set up on October 1 last year with a current total of 25 children.

“As the oil and gas workforce moves towards having more dual-career couples, childcare therefore requires a strong support-system especially for our employees from outside Miri,” said Rodziah.

The facility is spacious as well as fully equipped and designed to provide high quality childcare to the community of parents, especially those working around Lutong.

The centre opens from 7am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday to accommodate parents’ need for flexible timing.

“It was designed to accommodate up to 100 children aging from four months to 12 years’ old,” Rodziah added.
