Competition thanks blood donors

KUCHING: In conjunction with World Blood Donor Day 2019, a colouring competition themed “#safebloodforall” was held during the Team Building Camp 2019, organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Stampin District, SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1, and SJK Chung Hua No. 5.

The camp held at SJK Chung Hua No 5 on June 15 lasted from 7.30am to 5pm.

The main objectives of the programme were to educate its members in fostering better discipline, unity, cooperation and teamwork skills.

Activities conducted included lectures, a quiz based on Red Cross education, craftwork, setting up of tents, and a telematch.

The camp was participated by 60 members from five schools – SJK Chung Hua No. 1, SJK Chung Hua No. 3, SJK Chung Hua No. 5, SK Tabuan and Lodge Primary School.

Before the colouring competition, a briefing was held which focused on the importance of blood donation.

The themed colouring contest aimed to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood, and also to raise awareness among the younger generation on the importance of regular blood donations.

Consistent blood donations are necessary to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe and quality-assured blood and blood products.

During the closing ceremony, Malaysian Red Crescent Stampin District chairman Chong Choon Chiang presented his speech on the history of Red Cross.
