KUCHING:  Sibu Orphan Welfare Complex on Monday (Apr 19) changed its name to Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Sibu Welfare Complex. 

The announcement ceremony to change the name was done virtually through a livestream platform in the morning.

Sarawak Orphans Welfare Association (Peryatim) patron Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang attended the virtual name changing ceremony from her residence in Kuching along with Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee who attended from the Nangka Sibu Legislative Assembly Office.

“This official new name of the Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex is to honour the chief minister’s wife as the patron of Peryatim Sarawak,” the association said in a statement.

The ceremony was chaired by Peryatim board member and Peryatim Sibu exco chairman Datuk Mohamad Yusnar Matalie, branch manager Najilanisa Suhaili and 19 other staff.

According to the statement, Peryatim Sibu Complex started its operation in June 2014 at Taman Desa Kemuyang, Jalan Kemuyang Sibu.

The complex houses 61 children consisting of 30 boys and 31 girls aged around seven to 19 years old.

Also present to witness the virtual historic ceremony were Peryatim Sarawak chairman Datuk Misnu Taha, board members of Peryatim Sarawak, and Peryatim Sarawak chief executive officer Mohamad Salleh Hamden.
