MIRI: The first Member of Parliament (MP) for Sibuti constituency since it was created in 2005, the late Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang will always be remembered for his contributions and hard work. “He was a very active MP, ever since he was with the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas),” said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Tuesday after he visited Ahmad Lai’s family at their residence in Luak here to convey his condolences.

He was received by Ahmad Lai’s wife, Datin Dayang Lily Datuk Abang Indeh. The chief minister and entourage spent nearly 30 minutes at the residence before they returned to Kuching. Abang Johari was accompanied by Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Rosey Yunus and Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni. Abang Johari said he was shocked at the passing of Ahmad Lai. “I met him three weeks ago at Miri Airport.

He was the first MP for Sibuti constituency when it was created in 2005, and had been working very hard for his constituents,” he pointed out. Earlier, Abang Johari attended a Hari Raya Korban programme hosted by the Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Melayu Miri together with Masjid Darul Ehsan and Miri Islamic association.
