KUCHING: The Sarawak Marine Police on Saturday (Dec 19) seized untaxed cigarettes and alcohol beverages valued more than RM380,000 in a raid at Jalan Stakan.

Sarawak Marine Police Region Five commander ACP Shamsol Kassim said the raid on the shop premises at the said location took place at 4.15pm.

“The team managed to find the goods stored inside the premises and its storeroom.

“The illicit items comprised 107,520 sticks of various cigarettes and 4,791 litres of beer and 268 litres of liquor with a total value of RM382,498 including customs duties,” he said.

During the raid, the team also arrested two men in their 20s who failed to produce any valid documents for the items.

ACP Shamsol said the case would be handed over to Kota Sentosa police station for further actions under the Customs Act 1967.
