Cops nab suspected drug pushers in Serian

KUCHING: Police in Serian, about 65km from here, have arrested three suspected drug pushers from two separate locations.

The first suspect, 29, were picked up in a market in Balai Ringin, about half an hour’s drive from Serian town, on Monday.

A transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substance weighing 0.25 grammes believed to be methamphetamine was seized from him.

He is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

This was followed by the arrests of two other suspects aged 32 and 36 on a farm in Karangan, Serian. A car was also seized.

Police found a bag that had four transparent plastic packets containing drugs believed to be methamphetamine. The total weight of the drugs is 17.54 grammes.

Both suspects are being investigated under Section 39(a) of the Dangerous Drug Case 1952.

The trio also tested positive for methamphetamine and will be charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

If found guilty, offenders will be sentenced to life imprisonment with whipping or fine.
