KUCHING: All public higher learning institution (IPTA) and private higher learning institution (IPTS) students who returned to their hometowns in the state recently must undergo Covid-19 screening in their respective divisions.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the respective divisional SDMC would contact the students who had not been screened yet.

“SDMC together with the Ministry of Health (MOH) will enhance the capabilities of the contact tracing team to trace as fast as possible those who might have close contacts with the new positive cases,” it said in the statement today.

The committee also said that all students who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at home were required to stay at home and should not go out.

“If they are found in public places, the authorities will take legal action against them under the Protection of Public Health Ordinance 1999: Protection of Public Health (Measure on the Carrying out of Activities in Infected Local Areas) (No.2) Order, 2020 dated May 13,” it said.
