Covid-19: Two more new cases in Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded two more positive Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number to 509 since the first case was reported on March 13.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said both cases were from Kuching.

It also said Betong was declared a green zone since no positive cases were detected within the last 14 days. 

“The number of new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today is 35, while the number of PUIs awaiting laboratory results is 36.

“Meanwhile, 33 cases have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. Of these, 32 are from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one is from Miri Hospital,” it said in a statement. 

The total number of discharged patients now stands at 255.

SDMC said the state had a Covid-19 incidence rate of 16.50 percent per 100,000 individuals. 

The number of cases being treated at hospitals as of today are 233, with four in intensive care unit (ICU) and two requiring intubation (breathing assistance).

On Sarawakians returning from overseas, Malaya, Sabah, and Labuan, SDMC said another 455 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) have been checked into hotels, while 213 have completed their quarantine period and were allowed to return to their respective homes. 

On the operation of 44 quarantine centres, SDMC said  there were 224 new admissions today, bringing the currency occupancy to 2,095.

On the public’s compliance with the movement control order (MCO), the committee said it stood at 97.3 percent.
