KOTA SAMARAHAN: Community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) in Samarahan district have been urged to play a more proactive and greater role in all aspects including for the people, in human capital, and infrastructure and economic development.

In making this call, Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang said that she believes the role of KMKK is more diverse and no longer the same as before.

“As KMKK today, we need to update our knowledge and skills to be in line with the needs of the local community,” she said during the KMKK Samarahan District Appreciation Ceremony here on Saturday (Jan 29).

She stressed that KMKK have an important role as they are the bridge between the people and the government.

“As community representatives in the local area, KMKK should facilitate the delivery of services from the government and bring back input from the local community to the government or top leadership so that it can be addressed together,” she said.
