The daily Covid-19 report for Saturday (Sept 5).

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case for the sixth consecutive day on Saturday, maintaining the total number of positive cases in the state thus far at 699. 

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said there was also no new recovery and discharge from hospitals on Saturday.

“With this, the total number of recovered and discharged cases thus far remains at 668 or 95.57 percent,” the statement said.

SDMC said 12 individuals are still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards — seven in Bintulu Hospital, four in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), and one in Miri Hospital.

“Today (Saturday), 21 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported with four awaiting laboratory results,” it said.

Meanwhile, 50 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels on Saturday to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 12 hotels to 637. A total of 23,500 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

The committee said there was one remaining active cluster in Sarawak, namely the Alam Cluster in Bintulu involving eight cases.

SDMC told that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) issued three compound notices for non-compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) — one each in Serian, Betong, and Sarikei.

A total of 1,597 premises were monitored for recovery movement control order (RMCO) compliance, consisting of supermarkets (200), restaurants (291), factories (six), banks (98), government offices (57), hawkers (37), public markets (83), places of worship (83), recreational places (47), construction sites (11), and others (684).

On Ops Benteng, the committee said that 1,137 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts – two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
