KUCHING: Far-sighted leaders have led Sarawak to become what it is today on the global stage.
In stating this, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that he had gone to Rotterdam, Tokyo, Singapore, and many other countries to share the state’s new economy involving green energy.
“Among others, Sarawak will be the main hydrogen producer in the Asia region by 2026,” he said when officiating the launch of the GPS Youth Machinery at Stadium Perpaduan on Today (Oct 29).
Pointing that such is the strength of the state, he said it should be maintained so that Malaysia can develop well.
“We in Sarawak are responsible (in contributing this) as we want a developed Malaysia.
“Sarawak is already strong, so Malaysia (too) must be strong. Let Sarawak be an economic contributor to Malaysia.
“Kita sik lokek jadi kita mok sidak nya jangan lokek juak dengan orang Sarawak (We are not stingy towards them, so we do not want them (the federal level) to be stingy to the people of Sarawak). Let us develop together,” he urged.
In light of this, Abang Johari assured that as long as GPS is in power, Sarawak’s future is bright.
“We already have a bright future ahead of us as we have aspirations to be achieved by 2030. By that time, I will be old so the youth will take over (and continue the legacy).
“From the strengths that we have, we can develop Malaysia with Sarawak as its heart.
“Since Sarawak has the strengths as its heart, not only the future of Sarawak (is assured) but also the whole of Malaysia. Moreover, we also have quality leadership from Sarawak,” he said.
