KUCHING: Leave it to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) top leadership to provide response about the merger between Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), said Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also GPS chairman, will comment on the matter.

“Don’t worry about it, Premier will say something about it later.

“There’s no need for me to comment on the matter so you just have to wait for him (Abang Johari) to say about it,” he said to newsmen who approached him on the matter during the prize presentation ceremony to winners of the International-Professional Golf 2023 tournament at the Sarawak Golf Club yesterday.

On Saturday, at the Grand Unity Dinner in Sibu, PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the merger between PDP and PSB was expected to be finalised in December this year.

PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh also expressed his confidence that all things could be worked out smoothly between the two political parties.

On July 13, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding in Kuala Lumpur, pledging to work together towards the merger of the two parties.
