“Six firefighters, including an operation commander, reached the scene at 11.40am and proceeded to extinguish the fire – several wooden pallets had been burned to simulate a fire.

“The firefighters were also assisted by the port’s emergency rescue team (ERT).”

After the fire was put out, the operation commander conducted an assessment.

The spokesperson said the purpose of the drill was to assess Samalaju Bomba’s readiness and response time to an emergency.

The drill also assessed the cooperation between the firefighters and the port’s ERT team in handling a fire incident at the port.
