Drug dealers arrested in Miri

Drugs, cars and money seized by the police last Saturday.

MIRI: Four persons were arrested by police for their involvement in drug activities at a condominium in Jalan Riam here.

According to State Narcotics Crime Investigation chief Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid, the suspects—two Chinese men and two Vietnamese women aged between 24 and 41—were picked up around 11.50am last Saturday.

The first two suspects were arrested near a guard house and outside an elevator of the condominium.

Later, police were led to the third suspect’s location in a room and the fourth suspect was found around 1pm, hiding in a car at the condominium’s parking lot.

Police confiscated a total of 29 transparent packets containing syabu weighing 1,122.43g, two Erimin 5 pills (0.47g), an electronic door card, house keys, a digital weighing machine and a plastic container with empty plastic packets.

The syabu was valued at RM69,780 while the Erimin 5 pills were worth RM30.

Police also seized several items such as a gold chain, gold framed pendant, two gold rings, Malaysian and Bruneian currency amounting to RM23,427, a Mercedes-Benz S280 and a Proton vehicle with a total value of RM109,495.

All suspects were brought to the Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Division for further action. They will be remanded for five days.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and, upon conviction, the culprits will be punished with death or life imprisonment and will, if not convicted of the death sentence, be punished with whipping of not less than 15 lashes.
