Drugs worth almost RM300k seized, duo nabbed

MIRI: Various types of drugs valued at RM297,347.50 were seized by the police on Monday night during a raid following the arrest of two local men at Bintang Commercial Centre here.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the raid was held around 11.30 pm by a team of Miri Police Narcotic Investigation Department.

“The first suspect was apprehended inside a recreation centre, while another suspect outside the premises,” he said during a press conference today.

Also present was Miri Narcotic chief ASP Mingat Bakil.

Among drugs seized were Ecstacy (2,632 grammes); Ketamin (2,828.50 grammes); Erimin 5 (146 grammes); and Esctasy powder (1,785 grammes).

During the raid, police also seized drug-processing equipment as well as a car (Toyota Rouge), several jewelleries and cash amounting to RM162,620.

The two suspects, aged 26 and 34, have been remanded until January 17 to facilitate investigations.

Both of the suspects were tested positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence or life imprisonment.
