Duo arrested for having drugs worth RM3k

PADAWAN: Police busted two local men for abusing and possessing illegal substances worth over RM3,000.

The district narcotics police detained a vehicle and the two suspects at a basketball court at Stadium Taman Mewah, Jalan Arang yesterday (Jan 11).

Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the team searched the vehicle and found the drugs.

“On the first suspect, an officer found a small transparent packet inside his trouser pocket, believed to be crystal methamphetamine (0.60 gramme).

“From the vehicle, one small transparent packet was also found on the dashboard, also believed to be crystal methamphetamine (5.16 gramme),” said Zainal.

Another small transparent packet was also found hidden under the arm rest, which is believed to be marijuana (50.10 gramme).

The total value of the crystal methamphetamine (RM576) and the marijuana (RM2,505) cost RM3,081.

The suspects were arrested and tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Both suspects have prior records involving drugs and admitted distributing drugs since last year.

They are being investigated under Section 39A(2), Section 39(1) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

They are being locked up at the Siburan police station and are awaiting a remand date which is to be applied today (Jan 12).
