SIBU: Sports Toto ushered in the Year of the Rat by kick-starting its 33rd Sports Toto Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign.

Beginning Jan 9, the six-day donation campaign would be held in 50 cities and towns nationwide to benefit over 19,000 needy senior citizens aged 60 years and above.

Sibu is one of the 50 locations selected for this donation campaign and a total of 350 needy senior citizens here yesterday received red packets containing money and mini hampers from Sports Toto.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew was present to handover the goodies.

Through the campaign, Sports Toto aims to achieve the objective of instilling positive values such as respecting and caring for the elders.

To date, Sports Toto has contributed over RM22 million benefitting more than 410,000 senior citizens nationwide since the inception of the donation campaign in 1988.

Other than festive donations, Sports Toto also contributes substantial amounts annually to the National Sports Council and sporting events organised by local sports associations to help the development of national sporting talents.
