Eateries admit cleanliness good for business

The owner of Tok Janggut Restaurant, Makshut showed the four-star Clean Toilet Certificate at the Kuching Clean Toilet Campaign - Certificate Giving Ceremony at MBKS, today.

KUCHING: Eatery operators agree that patrons pay particular attention to the cleanliness of toilets, especially in their premises.

Two food premises which received four-star rating certificates in conjunction with the 2022 Kuching Clean Toilet Campaign readily acknowledge its importance to their business.

One of the recipients, Makshut, who is the owner of Tok Janggut Restaurant said they were very concerned about cleanliness because it would also guarantee the cleanliness of the food at the eatery.

“Our toilets are always monitored, if anyone uses them without flushing them clean, we will clean them.

“We also check the cleanliness in the toilets every one or two hours and our employees are also responsible for maintaining personal hygiene and that of the shop,” he said.

Another recipient, Habsah Kamil, a supervisor at Secret Recipe in Song Plaza said they need to keep the premises in a clean condition in accordance to the standards that have been set.

“This is to maintain the quality and standard of Secret Recipe, indeed this is also what has been set by the headquarters.

“Similarly with the cleanliness of toilets in our premises, all Secret Recipe branches must comply with the guidelines set by the city council and the headquarters,” she said.

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) organized the 2022 Kuching Clean Toilet Campaign.

Today Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng handed over certificates to 58 food operators.
