Education seminar attracts 35 SJKC school heads

SIBU: Thirty-five headmasters of the Chinese-medium primary schools or SJKC from the National Union of Headmasters’ Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur branch (KKGGBM WPKL) and SJKC Headmasters’ Council of Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (SJKC WPKL) convened for a four-day SJKC Headmasters’ Education seminar 2017 held at Kingwood hotel here starting yesterday.

Chairman of KKGGBM, Wong Shee Fatt said the seminar was an annual programme and the 14th this year organised by SJKC WPKL.

He said in conjunction with the Visit Sibu Year 2017 (VSY 2017), they have chosen Sibu to hold the seminar concerned.

“This seminar is held each year and each year also, we will choose a new place. Thus we are overjoyed to be given the honour to organise this seminar in Sibu.

“The purpose is because we want to explore as many new places and among the places we have visited included Taiwan, Langkawi and Cameron Highland,” he said at a press conference held at Kingwood Hotel here yesterday.

Besides the education seminar, Wong said they would also visit several places in Sibu encompassing longhouses and SJKC type schools in Sibu.

The theme of the seminar, “Upgrading headmasters’ professionalism” was aimed at transforming the thinking of the school leadership management in 21st century.

Meanwhile, Director of Education Department of Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Dato Foziah Buang said the seminar’s main aim was to expose the headmasters from Kuala Lumpur on the current development of the education system.

“In the first phase, we have been given exposure in regard to education transformation.

“’Whereas for this second phase, we will be exposed on ways to implement whatever programmes that been planned in the education development plan, in order to able to run smoothly and successfully,” she said.
