DEBAK: A 69-year-old man is believed to be missing when he did not return home after going to the river near Rumah Martin Gana Ulu Rimbas here to take a bath on Monday afternoon.

According to a police report lodged at Debak Police Station by his brother William Kasa Gani, the victim known as Ampi @ Steward Ampi Gani did not return home after going for a bath at Sungai Ulu Rimbas, around 2pm.

He said his brother was believed to have disappeared near the river and urged the police to launch a search and rescue operation (SAR).

Meanwhile, based on information from his wife, the victim was said to be wearing a pair of blue shorts, a black hat, a handkerchief, and was carrying a blue towel.

He added that the victim was also suffering from stroke and loss of memory.

Meanwhile, Betong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) officer, PBK I Henry Jugah, when contacted yesterday, said an SAR team was mobilised early yesterday morning.

The search was still continuing yesterday with focus in the jungle area and the riverbanks.

The SAR team, comprising the police, Bomba and APM, was divided into two groups and assisted by the longhouse residents.
