Excellent Service Award for 235

KAPIT: Some 235 employees of the  Local Government and Housing Ministry, Drainage And Irrigation Department (DID) and 23 local authorities statewide received their Excellent Service Awards (Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang) 2017 at a presentation ceremony held in conjunction with Ministry of Local Government and Housing’s Smart Community Award 2018 and Local Government’s Star Rating Awards 2017 at UCSI Hotel in Kuching, recently.

Of the 235 award recipients, 14 were from the   Local Government and Housing Ministry, DID (2), Miri City Council (35), Sibu Municipal Council (41), Padawan Municipal Council (32), six each from Kota Samarahan Municipal Council and Serian District Council, Sri Aman District Council (8), Betong District Council (5), Sibu Rural District Council (6), Kapit District Council (6), Mukah and Dalat District Council (8), Limbang District Council (7), Lundu District Council (4), Bau District Council (6), Simunjan District Council (5), 4 each from Lubok Antu District Council and Saratok District Council, Meradong Julau District Council (5), Kanowit, Matu Daro and Marudi District Council (6 each) and four each from Subis and Lawas District Council.

The recipients each received RM1,000 and a certificate which were presented by Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Permanent secretary to the Local Government and Housing Ministry, Bakrie Zaini, who also spoke at the function, called on civil servants to serve with full dedication and commitment to meet the people’s expectations and to deliver their services efficiently.

“Deliver what is expected of you. That is how you repay the reward that has been given to you,” he said and thanked the recipients for rendering excellent service to their respective agencies.

He also reminded local authorities to be more efficient and responsive in delivering their services to the public.

At the event, the  Local Government and Housing Ministry also presented star rating awards to local authorities for last year.

Five received 5-star rating awards, namely, Sibu Municipal Council, Padawan Municipal Council, Kuching City South Hall, Kuching City North Commission and Bintulu Development Authority.

Nine received 4-star rating awards. They were Kapit District Council, Sarikei District Council, Sri Aman District Council, Lawas District Council, Sibu Municipal Council, Limbang District Council, Sibu Rural District Council, Kanowit District Council and Miri City Council.

The 12 recipients of the 3-star rating award were Meradong and Julau District Council, Dalat and Mukah District Council, Marudi District Council, Serian District Council, Bau District Council, Simunjan District Council, Betong District Council, Lundu District Council, Saratok District Council, Subis District Council, Matu and Daro District Council and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council.

Among those present at the function were Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Kuching  South City mayor Dato James Chan Kay Syn, Kuching  North City mayor Dauk Abang Abdul Wahab Abang Julai, Bintulu Development Authority general manager Rodziah Morshidi, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Datuk Peter Minos, Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang and Drainage and Irrigation Department director Chok Moi Soon.
