Expression of satisfaction with highway project

MIRI: Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has expressed satisfaction with the overall construction progress of the Pan Borneo Highway project in the state.

This came following a three-day journey across the Pan Borneo Highway from June 8 to 11 as part of its nationwide FTRoadpedia Tour.

“We made many stops along the way and the people met pointed out that they were happy with the construction of the highway.

“I have also spoken to numerous local representatives who also expressed satisfaction with the overall progress of the construction works,” he said.

He said this at a press conference held at a renowned hotel here after arriving in Miri yesterday.

The 826-kilometre journey from Kuching to Miri aims to review the progress, issues and challenges of the Pan Borneo Highway project, which is currently at 83 per cent completion.

The journey via bus was led by Fadillah and joined by Deputy Infrastructure and Port Development Minister Datuk Majang Renggi amongst others.

Fadillah was also joined by Transport Minister cum Senadin assemblyman Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin on the last leg of the tour.

The programme kicked-off with a journey to the Simunjan Interchange section which is about an hour away from Kuching city.

It was then followed by a stop at the Sri Aman Interchange sections before leaving to inspect the Betong Interchange sections and ending the first day of the programme in Sibu.

The second day of the programme (Jun 10) also saw numerous stops along the highway before ending at Bintulu.

The final leg of the road tour (Jun 11) started with a briefing on the Nyabau Interchange sections, a site visit to Miri Interchange sections and finally ending with a press conference.
