KUCHING: A power outage did not stop faithful parishioners from attending a sunset Mass at St Peter’s Church this evening.

The blackout is believed to have happened in the afternoon as there were works carried out on one of the electrical poles in the church’s compound.

It is also said that the power would return before 5pm, however, it was delayed due to heavy rain.

When the parishioners arrived at the church around 5pm, they found that it (church) had no power and they still attended the Mass despite the blackout and cold weather.

Before the Mass began at 6pm, Reverend Father Vincent Chin acknowledged the blackout and joked that it was not because of unpaid electricity bills.

The Mass went smoothly and towards the end, the power came back and the church was lit up around 6.30pm.

The electricity returned around 6.30pm as the Mass was coming to an end.
