Family of four injured as car crashes into ditch

The scene of the accident where the car landed in a ditch after the vehicle hit a pothole and skidded off the road.

TANJUNG MANIS: A family of four suffered multiple injuries after their car hit a pothole and veered off the road and landed in a ditch along Jalan Sungai Pipit, Sedau yesterday (Aug 14).

Civil Defence Force (APM) Tanjung Manis district officer Lt Md Azan Sadie said they received a distress call around 6.03 pm and deployed a team of six members to the scene.

“On arrival, they found that the passers-by had rescued all four victims out of the Proton Iswara.

“According to the driver, the car had hit a pothole and it caused him to lose control of the vehicle before crashing into a ditch,” Azan said.

He said the head of the family, a 47-year-old man, sustained a broken left hand while, his 45-year-old wife sustained a broken right hand and back pain.

Their 26-year-old son, who was the driver, did not have any visible injuries other than a swelling on the right side of his head.

The couple’s 20-year-old daughter  sustained injuries to her face and wounds under her eyes..

Azan pointed said the victims were treated at the scene before sending them to the Tanjung Manis health clinic.
