MUKAH: The Mukah Food Festival (MFF) 2023 serves as a platform to elevate entrepreneurs and small traders here.

Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) chairman, Aini Suhaili, noted that the festival is particularly beneficial for those introducing traditional foods, especially Melanau cuisine.

“Not only does it feature traditional Melanau food, but it also provides an opportunity for other ethnic groups to showcase their unique dishes.

“This festival has generated a profit of RM1.8 million for all participating entrepreneurs as of today (Nov 11).

“Of course, this festival, lasting over two weeks, also boosts other services in Mukah, such as hotel accommodations, with some hotels reportedly being fully booked during the event,” he said during the MFF 2023 closing ceremony at Kala Dana Beach here last night.

He mentioned that following the successful of the MFF, which attracted more than 100,000 visitors, the council plans to host additional events next year.

“Most importantly, by 2025, we aim to transform the Mukah and Dalat districts into a tourist destination, aligning with our council’s vision.

“In preparation, we plan to install as many as 32 light-emitting diode (LED) lamps in Mukah town.

“Additionally, 36 LED lights will be installed on the Yellow Bridge, a landmark of Mukah city,” he said.

He assured that his team is committed to revitalising Mukah city to ensure smooth planning. Also present was Balingian State Assembly Member Abdul Yakub Arbi.
