Federal govt urged to maintain Rahmah sales

KUCHING: The federal government should continue with the ongoing implementation of the Jualan Rahmah programme which will help to lighten the burden of the people in the current economic situation.

In stating this, Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen said the Jualan Rahmah is a people friendly programme launched by the Madani government to help ease the costs of living of the people.

“This morning, I attended the Jualan Rahmah programme held at Farley Supermarket. Together with me is my special assistant Michael Kong.

“Under the programme today and tomorrow, there are 16 items that the government through Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living, provides subsidy so that their selling prices are substantially lowered and the programme will run for two days, today and tomorrow,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He also said that for the Jualan Rahmah initiative, the government allocated for each constituency a monthly allocation of RM20,000 to subsidise some selected food items so that they can be sold at a much discounted price.

“I thank the Ministry staff for their effort to carry out this initiative of the government.

“I also wish to thank Farley management for their collaboration with the ministry so that the programme can be implemented smoothly.

“Not only are the 16 selected items are sold at much discounted prices, the Farley Supermarket also runs their discount sales for many items displayed in conjunction with the impending Chinese New Year,” Chong said.

Among the items are whole chicken per kg (RM8.00), Grade B eggs (9.99 per tray-30 eggs), sugar per kg (RM2.45) and others.
