MATU: The recording (filming) of the local Melanau wedding customs by RTM on last Saturday would benefit the local tourism industry.
This commendable effort held at a Melanau longhouse in this upcoming district (Matu) was meant to highlight the local customs and traditions.
And the event was also the best platform to promote this traditional Melanau longhouse to the world, or at least to the viewers of the national Radio And Television broadcasting agency(RTM).
The longhouse which is located at Kampung Sok, in Matu, is the one and only surviving Melanau ethnic longhouse in the division and state, though the process of modernisation is seen in every corner of the nation.
That event was made possible following the tireless effort undertaken by the locals to preserve and maintain that priceless living heritage of the Melanau community.
