KUCHING: Quick action by firefighters prevented a fire from spreading to a residential house but the blaze damaged the car porch and destroyed a car yesterday (Nov 9).
No injuries or casualties were reported.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident happened around 10.25pm at a house in Taman Punica, Jalan Matang, here.
Firemen from the Petra Jaya station were promptly despatched to the scene following an emergency call.
By the time they reached the scene, the fire had already destroyed the vehicle and caused damages to the ceiling of the car porch.
Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the house where a family of five was staying. Nevertheless, the family members managed to scramble to safety earlier.
The flames were brought under control at 11.15pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are yet to be ascertained.
