KUCHING: Five secondary schools teams which participated in Yayasan Petronas’ ‘Sentuhan Harapan — All About Youth (AAY) 2019’ programme have secured another opportunity to win RM30,000 in the competition’s Chairman’s Circle Award this December.

Yayasan Petronas, the CSR (corporate social responsibility) arm of Petronas, yesterday announced the five teams that will develop the best environmental solution for potential commercialisation and become the ultimate winner of the Chairman’s Circle Award.

The teams were selected from 50 schools involving 1,000 Form Two and Form Four students from Melaka, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak, based on their product design and viability as well as the promotion of their ideas via social media, to garner public votes.

The finalists must now develop a business plan over the next 10 weeks based on their prototype, keeping to the theme ‘Reducing Carbon Emissions for a Better Future’.

Yayasan Petronas chief executive officer Lita Osman said AAY 2019 offered the opportunity for bright young talents to showcase innovative business plans for the benefit of society.
