SIBU: The master bedroom of a double-storey house in Jalan Arau here was damaged in a fire on Thursday (April 6).
Sungai Merah fire station chief Abdul Mutalib Jaafar said they received a distress call around 9.55am.
Firefighters from the Sibu station were also sent to the scene to assist in the operation.
The flames had caused 20 per cent damage to the master bedroom on the second floor.
No injuries were reported in the incident as two tenants managed to get to safety.
In another update, firefighters from the Sibu Jaya station responded to a house fire in Lorong Wong King Huo 13, Wednesday night (April 5).
When the team arrived around 7pm, they found that the fire occurred in a room of the house, which was turned into a storage to keep used items.
Extinguishing work was carried out and no injuries were reported as the tenant was not at home.
The cause of the fire in both cases is still under investigation.
