KUCHING: Four people, including a Askar Wataniah (Territorial Army) officer, received their promotions at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Monday (April 18).

The presentation was done by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Army Chief General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Zamrose Mohd Zain.

The four individuals had their promotions approved by the King following the recommendation of Majlis Angkatan Tentera or Armed Forces Council.

Col (AW) Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, who was promoted to Brig-Gen effective Jan 19, retained his position as Regimen 510, AW commander. He is also the Deputy State Secretary (Socio-Economic Transformation).

Datuk Abdullah Julaihi, who is Sarawak Land and Survey director, was appointed Ahli Jawatan Kuasa Pendukung Askar Wataniah (JAKPAW) Sarawak.

Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli, who is Tabung Baitumal Sarawak general manager, was promoted as Ahli Turut Hadir JAKPAW Sarawak.

Dr Zaidi Razak, who is Sarawak Multimedia Authority general manager, was also appointed as Ahli Turut Hadir JAKPAW Sarawak.

The army has established JAKPAW in every state to encourage the public to participate in Askar Simpanan Persekutuan or Federal Reserve Army, aimed to assist the regular army protect the nation.
