BEKENU: The constant erosion of soil trenches in Kampung Kayu Kapur here have caused its villagers to be worried for over a year.

Concerned over the problems faced by the villagers, Bekenu State Assemblywoman, Rosey Yunus visited the affected areas here on Wednesday morning.

She also brought representatives from related agencies such as Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID), Public Works Department (JKR), Subis District, and an officer from the District office.

“We have inspected the affected areas and will submit a proposal to the State government for allocations to solve the problems,” she said.

According to Rosey, the problem worsened following the frequent rainfall in the area.

“With the increase in population of buffalos within the area, the process (erosion) have been speeding up,” she said.

“Perhaps it would be best to turn the surrounding areas into a breeding farm for buffalos as part of the village’s tourist attraction,” she concluded.
