KUCHING: Police have successfully solved 10 cases of burglary and theft with the arrest of three members of ‘Geng Debu’ last week.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were nabbed on June 16 by the Counter Aggressive Team and Sungai Maong police station’s Crime Prevention Patrol led by Insp Awang Ramzi Awang Junaidi.

“The first and second suspects were caught red handed by the operation team around 5.10am in a residential area at Stampin Tengah.

“A few hours later, the third suspect was nabbed in a house at Stutong area.

“Also seized from them were a 42-inch television, three branded compressors, sacks and plastics containing electrical wires stolen by the suspects,” he said.

Background checks found that two of the suspects had prior records for drug-related offences.

He added that all three tested positive for methamphetamine and they are being remanded to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 14 years, fine or whipping.
